Some pieces simply make the table prettier. This antique Visnaud Limoges oval vegetable bowl is one of them, with delicate florals tracing its softly shaped rim and all the quiet elegance of beautifully made French porcelain.

The pattern is known as The Meuse and was produced for Hess Brothers, the legendary Allentown, Pennsylvania department store known for its luxurious goods and wonderfully theatrical sense of style. It is a lovely piece of retail history—and an increasingly uncommon serving piece to find.

Made for the table, we love it filled with Sunday lunch vegetables, roasted potatoes or something wonderful passed around at a holiday gathering. And when dinner is over? It is far too pretty to tuck away in a cabinet.

Measures approximately 9 1/2” long x 7 1/2” wide x 1 3/4” deep.

Vintage condition is excellent with no chips or cracks.
