Antique Theodore Haviland Limoges Floral Oval Serving Bowl | c. 1903

A beautiful antique Theodore Haviland Limoges oval serving bowl dating to approximately 1903. Delicate pink roses are surrounded by a blue-green laurel garland and finished with gold along the rim—a wonderfully graceful example of turn-of-the-century French Limoges.

The bowl was made by Theodore Haviland for Burley & Company of Chicago, an important importer and retailer of fine china and glassware during the late 19th and early 20th centuries. The mark on this piece dates its manufacture to approximately 1903, giving it more than 120 years of history.

Burley & Company operated in Chicago under several iterations beginning in the 19th century, becoming Burley & Company in 1883. The business was ultimately sold to Albert Pick & Co. in 1923.
