Long before I lived in the country I have been obsessed with game birds. It started with a vintage turkey tureen I thrifted in my early twenties and has more recently expanded to taxidermy ~ a pheasant (I call Fred who has made a few appearances on here) and quail (yet to be named). The downstairs of our house is full of architectural nuances. I mentioned a few posts back how the house is built into the side of the hill it sits on and my gut tells me that the downstairs originally started it’s life as a two car garage before turned into finished living space. All the architectural breaks point to that being true especially the entrance door and “foyer” that is directly at the bottom of the stairs. One of the most frustrating things EVER when sourcing vintage dinner and glassware is finding only ONE of something that is more than fabulous. Thus is the case with this beautiful dinner plate that I found a few weeks ago. One of Mikasa’s amazing patterns from the 80’s called Strawflowers, I have been trying to hunt down another 3 (or should I get another 5? Or 7 for service for 8?) because I am now obsessed with it. Plus it looks great with my small collection of brown drip serveware.
