Vintage Morimura Nippon Hand Painted Trinket Box with Lid

That color combination! Those square handles! Bold pops of black, a yellow and blue floral design trimmed in Greek key and gold ~ this is modern vintage at its best. This small trinket box would make a perfect jewelry box or catchall. It could even work as a sugar bowl. Made by Morimura with the Nippon marking, it was most likely manufactured on or around 1911. Measuring just under 5 3/4" from handle to handle, it stands 3" high and is 1 1/4" deep. The gold trim is gently rubbed on the handles and there are two tiny dot size spots where the painting is rubbed off on the lid as well as on the base (all visible in photos). There are no chips or cracks and for its age it is in excellent condition.
